Is a label just a label ?

Well actually it's not as simple as that, you need to ask yourself a few questions to ensure that you get the right product for the job. Using a substrate which is unsuitable can ultimately lead to the product failing and result in costly rejections or in worst case, prosecution.

When you consider your label you need to ask the following questions:

1. What size do you need now and in the foreseable future ?

2. What type of finish or face stock ?

3. Adhesive type 
(a) What are you sticking the label on ?
(b) What type of environment is that label going to be placed in ?
(c) What is the expected life of the label ?

4. Material Type
(a) What type of environment is that label going to be placed in ?
(b) What is the expected life of the label ?

5. Overprinting
Will the labels be overprinted before use ?
In this case the face stock will be an important consideration as will the type of printing, i.e. Direct Thermal, Thermal Transfer, Laser, Inkjet.

6. Label Format
Are you going to hand apply, machine apply or a mixture of both ?
